About Morse Universe

Morse Universe is a free set of morse code tools: a translator, decoders for sound, pictures and video, printable charts and a trainer. One person builds it.

The builder

Creator ISHAN is a web developer and solopreneur, and Morse Universe is a one-person business: the research, the design, the code and the words on every page come from the same desk. There is no team, no investor and no ad network deciding what goes where, which is why the tools load fast and sit at the top of the page.

The site started in September 2026, and it started with research rather than code: what people search for in morse across 17 countries, which of those searches a working tool already answers, and which ones nobody answers at all. Video decoding, the scout codes of Indonesia, a printable chart that gets the timing right: the gaps decided what got built.

One idea runs through every page. A dah (the long signal) lasts three times as long as a dit (the short one), so Creator ISHAN draws it three times as long, with a gap of one unit between them, as ITU-R M.1677-1 sets out. Most morse sites type a period and a hyphen instead, and the proportion comes out wrong. Here the shape teaches the rhythm before you hear a note.

The site now works in 10 languages, each with the code its speakers actually use: Wabun for Japanese kana, the Cyrillic table for Russian, the Arabic letters, Telex spelling for Vietnamese, and the grass and box codes Pramuka scouts learn in Indonesia. The audio decoder reads a recording or a live microphone, and the trainer takes a beginner from two letters to all 41 characters, one lesson at a time.

73, Creator ISHAN. (73 is how radio operators sign off: best regards.)

In numbers

  • 10languages, each with its own morse table

What the site holds to

  1. Something to use on every page

Each page carries a tool, a download or sound. A page that would only be text doesn’t get built.

  2. The tool comes first

The translator, decoder or chart sits at the top of its page. No ad will ever sit above it.

  3. One engine underneath

A single morse engine runs the translator, the decoders, the charts and the trainer, so they never disagree about a code or a timing.

  4. Sources, named

Codes and timing follow ITU-R M.1677-1, the international standard. Learning methods are credited to the people who made them: Koch, Farnsworth, ARRL.

  5. Your text stays with you

The tools run in your browser. There are no accounts and no cookies, and what you type isn’t sent anywhere. The privacy page has the details.
